Joy Without a Cause
Most of us are used to joy having a reason.
Good news.
A compliment.
A win.
A moment where life goes our way.
We are conditioned to believe joy is a response to circumstances, something that arrives when the outside world lines up just right.
But there is another kind of joy.
A quieter one, a steadier one.
Joy that does not need a reason.
This is the kind of joy that begins to appear when the inner noise starts to clear. When you are no longer carrying irritation, resentment, replayed conversations, and emotional residue from the day.
This is what the practice of the words gently creates.
I love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.
Each repetition clears something you did not realize you were holding. And as that weight lifts, something unexpected takes its place.
Lightness.
You may be doing the dishes, sitting in traffic, or walking through a normal afternoon—and you notice you feel… good.
Not excited, not thrilled, not euphoric.
Just quietly, peacefully okay.
That is joy without a cause.
It does not come from getting what you want.
It comes from no longer carrying what you do not need.
And once you taste this kind of joy, you realize something beautiful:
You do not have to wait for life to change in order to feel better.
You can feel better now.
